Thanksgiving = Giving Thanks
Nov 27, 2013
This is not a typical post for us here at Original Strength, BUT this is not a typical time of year....
I have to be honest. When I was a child. I did not like the Thanksgiving holiday. For me, it meant eating foods I did not like, or being made fun of because I didn't want to eat what everyone else was eating. What's wrong with having pizza for a Thanksgiving meal? Anyway, Thanksgiving was a holiday I did not enjoy too much. But that was because I was a kid, and I completely missed the point of the holiday.
Now, as a much older, wiser kid, I understand the purpose behind Thanksgiving: To give thanks for the many blessings that we have been given; to be thankful. Now, because I have been given so much, I can't help but enjoy this holiday. I have so much to be thankful for:
I am thankful for answered prayers. Original Strength, the resets, and the hope of resilience were an answer to prayer. I am so grateful for these simple moves and the power they have to restore the body. I have never felt stronger than I am today.
I am thankful for friends, both old and new. Through the journey that Original Strength has led me, I have met wonderful people from around the world, people that I am glad to call my friends. I have met a "brother" in Israel, a couple of "warriors" in Georgia and Connecticut, a genius in Minnesota, and a rock star in Maryland. All of these people are making the world a better place. It is exciting to watch.
I am thankful for hope. I honestly believe that the simplicity of Original Strength is strong enough to change the entire world. I know that if people sincerely engage in these simple moves they can discover the body, the freedom, and the life they were meant to have. It is a crazy thought, but it is a thought full of hope. From what I have seen so far, from the letters and stories I have read, this is a hope that rises.
I am thankful. I am thankful that I have a family who overlooks my need to roll around on the floor. I am thankful that I have a home in which I can lay my head each night. I am thankful that I get to show people how to crawl. And, I am thankful that I have my original strength.
What about you? What are you thankful for?
I know that no matter where you are or what you are going through in your life, there are wonderful treasures, wonderful gifts, that you have been given. Sometimes the busyness of life, the noise and distraction, the stress, they all pile up and we can't seem to see anything good. Sometimes we feel smothered by a world that wants to weigh us down, a world that wants to snuff out our flicker of hope. Sometimes, life just seems to slap up and knock us down. Even still though, if we stop and pause, if we simply take a moment to breathe (with our diaphragm), if we just get quiet, we can "press reset" and make our eyes new again to the joys, the gifts, and the blessings that we have been given.
You have been given so many gifts: sunsets, laughter, a spouse, a child, a cat, love, hope, health, Haagen Das, warm clothes, warm food, music, something... We all have something to be thankful for. If you haven't done this in a while, find a quiet place, a quiet minute, to just reflect and reset your mind on all the gifts and reasons you have to be thankful.
We hope you have a very happy Thanksgiving. We are very grateful and thankful for you.
So, thank you very much!
